Summer heat and longer drives put different stresses on your vehicle. A little preparation keeps you cool, comfortable, and reliable all season.

**Cooling system:** Have your AC serviced if it's not blowing cold. Low refrigerant, clogged filters, or a failing compressor will make summer miserable. A full AC check and recharge keeps you comfortable and prevents component damage from overheating.

**Fluids:** Heat causes fluid evaporation. Check oil, coolant, transmission fluid, and brake fluid levels. Top off as needed. Confirm your coolant is rated for high temperatures and has good corrosion protection.

**Tires:** Heat increases tire pressure; check pressure when tires are cold (before driving). Verify tread depth and look for cracks or uneven wear. Rotate tires every 6,000-8,000 miles for even wear and longer life.

**Battery & alternator:** Summer heat stresses batteries. Test battery health and ensure your alternator is charging properly. A weak battery fails when you're far from home.

**Belts & hoses:** Visually inspect for cracks, fraying, or soft spots. Worn belts and hoses fail in heat.
